Don't let the ANIMO SPIRIT DIE!!!!

From concerned La Sallians to my fellow La Sallians:

FYI lang para sa mga hindi nakaka-alam, ipinagbabawal na ang pagcheer at paggamit ng drums during timeouts. PROBLEM IS, the stup*d UAAP board is always
singleing out DLSU when it comes to violations of this 'rule'.

We pay for our tickets, they have to right to silence us, they have no right to kill the school spirit.

Cheer your hearts out this thursday and during all the remaining games of the archers.

From Archerpride.com Forums:
"There is a strong possibility that the Gang Green will be silenced this Thursday. Looks like the sea of CHEERING GREEN that we had hoped for the La Salle gallery will become nothing less than a sea of green silents. It seems DLSU was 'reprimanded' in the UAAP meeting last Friday for cheering during time outs. It seems some authorities have zeroed in on Gang Green for this ‘problem’. Last night, the Gang was told, in no uncertain terms, that if they continued to cheer during time-outs, even though we were across the benches and our cheering was only heard on our side, the Gang would not be allocated any tickets for the DLSU-ADMU game this Thursday!

Well, the Gang tried to comply fearing the loss of tickets for our game with the blues. The Gang went back to doing their ‘silent’ cheering during timeouts to comply but other green blooded La Sallians joined the Gang in cheering but in not so ‘silent’ a manner. They were obviously, not aware of our patented ‘silent cheering’. Yet, the Gang was blamed for them. That’s fine. Blame the Gang if you must. But when UE made their pull away late in the third and in the entire fourth quarters, most, if not all, of the DLSU gallery LOST THEIR VOICES!!! But the Gang could not and WOULD NOT turn their backs on the team. So, even under the threat of NO tickets for Thursday's big game, the Gang continued to cheer the team on practically NON-STOP! Sure we lost but our cheering was so heartening to the team that team manager Hero Yu thanked the Gang Green for their non-stop cheering and encouraged them to continue to do so beause "it lifted the spirits of the players so much specially when we are down”. But by continuing to give this important morale support to the players, the Gang may be permanently SILENCED starting with the La Salle-Ateneo game this Thursday. Well, if the Gang does not get tickets hereon end, I personally feel IT WAS WORTH IT just to cheer on our players when they were down. Even down very badly. The Gang SUPPORTS the team with our cheers regardless of whether we are winning or losing. This is us, true La Sallians. Heck, without the Gang, the Pep Squad will have no one to lead the cheering to. To those who cheer only when the team is up, please, the team needs you more WHEN THEY ARE DOWN!!! Don't be afraid to cheer! We realize that not all can cheer as ardently as the Gang but with our own pendindg 'suspension' or 'expulsion' you all will have to carry on the cheering burden.

Remember, the Gang was there with the team when they were suspended. We even pitched in to give our team uniforms for many of those tournaments. The Gang was there to watch ALL their games (though in smaller and rotating numbers) in the FMC, Fil-Oil, NSL and other tournaments whether it was in the FEU gym, San Beda, Arellano and wherever. The Gang watched those tournaments even before the crowd came out during the playoff and championship games. THE GANG WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR THE TEAM! FOR LA SALLE!!! WE ARE THERE WHEN MANY COULDN'T!!! WE ARE THERE WHEN MANY WOULDN'T!!! And now, we may be silenced forever. All for La Salle!

We understand the position of our Board Reps being new to the UAAP Board. But why is no one fighting for the cheering supporters of our and the other teams? Why kowtow to Mama Goldie and the other Board members, who want the UAAP games to be as silent as a Mozart concert at the CCP and whose idea of cheering is cart wheeeling and dancing at half time! Oh, don’t forget the mandatory PE class attendees of those schools who are ‘forced’ to attend their games and where they are mandatorily told to memorize their cheers and cheer only on cue! No one should pass the blame to ABS-CBN! Don’t pass the blame to the coaches! If I remember right, it was only the acerbic Aric Del Rosario of UST(why am I not surprised?) who once complained about the loud cheering during time outs. I don’t think Franz, Dindo, Norman, Bogs, Manny, Glenn or even Pido would be complaining. Being former players, they know how important crowd support is to their players and would not fault the crowds for it. Does the UAAP Board do? Oh well, that’s the UAAP Board.

So, to all La Sallians, if you hear a defeaning silence during timeouts at La Salle games, that's the type of game the UAAP BOARD wants! Strange, when ADMU fans continued to cheer during time outs and even boooed Mama Goldie when an announcement not to cheer was made by her in one of their games, ADMU was not 'reprimanded.' So, it looks like this Thursday there will be no one to answer their six man battalion. Again, that's the UAAP Board for you."

Let us, the whole DLSU community cheer non-stop. Let us see then if they can do anything?

What next? Don't sell tickets to DLSU students/alumni?
