the pain of being sure...

I just came home from my little trip to the local grocery to stock up on brews for our family's long table gathering later. Lo and behold, as I passed ou iron gate my mom was shouting at me to run fast. I got in and she just thrust my sister's mobile into my ears...it was my brother on the line.

"I just got off the line with my agent and she already sent you the itenirary of your flight, FRIDAY - NEXT WEEK..." Whaaaat? That's the 11th right? I was ROBBED OF A DAY!!!

Worse, my flight's at 7:40PM which means I get to Changi around 11PM!!! What the hell?!?!?!

I feel like I just swallowed a big rock right now. I think I'll go and puke now...

"Riot!" now up!

It's Paramore's sophomore album aka "THE ONE THAT DOESN'T SUCK". I've been hearing their songs over the airwaves a lot recently so...enjoy guys! Misery Business is the only song I actually know...

(NOTE: For those not in the know, here's the 411, all my music uploads are in the MUSIC SECTION of course. Don't know where it is? Scroll up the page and look for the MUSIC tab between the VIDEO and CALENDAR tab. As for those who'll be reading this on my blogger page, please click on this LINK. I'll try to include this note in all my upload announcements from now on but absolutely no promises.)

"Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!" now up!

This is Hellogoodbye's first album. The band is more power pop and I usually don't listen to the genre but for some inexplicable reason, I really really like this album. If you also have the time, watch their music videos on YouTube, the videos are geeky in the cute, adorkable way! The band is also known for their unusually close relationships with their fans...amazing right?

"Phantoms" now up!

This is the only full length album by Acceptance. Really good. If you liked my Anberlin upload, you'll definitely love this band as well. Too band they've gone their separate ways and went on to perform for other bands that totally suck. Oh well, at least this one's a gem.

"Ten" now up!

Pearl Jam's first ever studio album and my all time favorite album of theirs. "Jeremy" is in this one and it rocks like hell. I'll upload the 320 kbps rip once I get my Pearl Jam CDs back. Enjoy people!

"Nevermind" now up!

I really don't think this album needs any further explanation right? Enjoy guys...

impending doom...

Yeah...so I finally got all my shit together and I'm just waiting for the sun to come out (tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar on...craaaaaap) so I could do my laundry. My mom was kind enough to hire someone to do my ironing. I'm gonna make sure she gets her money's worth cause I'm planning on having everyhting pressed. That should be done by next week.

We also made concessions about my baggage. We pretty much accepted the fact that I'll probably go over the baggage limit and decided to add a whole bag to what I'll carry so I'll have to pay extra for that.

I got the electric shavers I had my beady eyes on for the longest time. Goodbye razor burns and good riddance. I'm slowly completing my toiletry kit for when I leave.

And oh yeah...my phone's busted. It's acting all weird on me and since I don't have the time to go look for one, I'll be bringing along my busted shitty phone. Since, the iPhone isn't due out 'til a little later next year, I'll probably be getting a Blackberry there or anything with a full qwerty keypad.

In the meanwhile, I'm planning on uploading lots of cool stuff here. A wonderful friend of mine recently ripped me a good copy of his Nevermind (by Nirvana) album and it's wicked good. I also got new stuff from Boys Like Grils, Motion City Soundtrack, The Shins, Howie Day and Hellogoodbye. I'll upload them when I feel like it.

Happy Fucking Birthday...

I miss the days when I'm actually excited because it's my birthday...not being able to sleep the night before or being bombarded by text messages that flood in at the strike of midnight coming from friends and classmates who want to b e the first to greet you.

Well...I obviously didn't recieve the memo but apparently, those days are long gone.

I woke up at 4:30 AM to start my laundry. Yes, apparently, your dirty clothes won't wash itself even if it's your birthday. Then I got some leftover food from the fridge, nuked it and "et voila!" BREAKFAST! I fire up my notebook to find out my connection's still down (only to find out a few minutes ago that someone had physically disconnected the phone line from my modem!) and decided to just play games on it. My mom comes down a little past six and just asks what I'm doing up: "washing..." "ok...". Then walks into my room again at eigth to tell me she totally forgot it was my birthday. WOW...

I read messages from my sister greeting me. (I love her dearly...) She also told me she was bringing me home some nuggets. (At least she actually got me something I want...). Dad wakes up and greets me. (The only person I don't mind forgetting my birthday.)

I spend most of the day finishing my laundry, up until 1 in the afternoon. Skipped lunch. Then my dad walks in with one of his friends to brag about his huge ass LCD TV. Whatever...

He tells me to go out and buy drinks for him and his company. (Ouch much?!)

I just went out to cool off. I go in, sit and watch a DVD. Not 5 minutes into the film, mom hollers (from the second floor) at me (I'm downstairs) to get the telephone directory (from the third floor!) upstairs. Who wouldn't get mad...HONESTLY?!

I find out she's busy trying to make everything fixed for a cousin of mine who's going to be visiting the country (she lives in Australia). She has the time to worry about that but she's waaaay to busy to even prepare food.

She asks me about an hour ago to go out and buy food because she doesn't want to go out to the market because "she doesn't want to tire me out by asking me to cook dinner"...wow, considerate. I don't have to cook it, but I have to go out and buy it instead.

Somebody shoot me now...

another guilty pleasure...

Okay...so it seems I've been bitten by the Facebook bug as well. I've been toying around with the site for a few days now. It's just plain addicting. I dunno...it really does consume a big chunk of my time.

My browser is now set to open a bunch of sites automatically. There's Multiply (duh), Yahoo! mail (for spam because all my other addies are serviced through Outlook), Google Reader (for info and news), LastFM (to scope out new tunes because the iTunes store is up in my iTunes app), MySpace (for what it's worth), Facebook (new addition), MyGlobe cust service (just to make sure I'm not blindsided by 2-5k bills anymore), Windows Live, DList (secret...), and Wikipedia (it comes in handy every time!). I don't even bother opening Friendster anymore. It's sooo ten years ago!

ZOMG, I'm starting to digitize my whole life! I'm afraid I'll wake up one day stuck on the wrong side of the computer screen!

Fagnostic...

This is probably the first time I posted a video (or any form of media for that matter...) alluding to a subsequent post. I posted Jay Brannan's "Goddamned" as sort of an intro (if you would) to my ramblings.

I've been dealing with some deep shit recently. I mean with the boatloads of idle time I have, who wouldn't be pushed into making phiosophical discourses with their inner being?! LOL!!! I've always had questions about my faith (for those not on the down-low, I was born into a Roman Catholic family and was thus baptised without much preamble) and all these questions have snowballed into the very scary (and sinful...yes, in the biblical sense) five letter word - "D O U B T". People who question their faith and who actually try to think for themselves have always been negatively labeled by the church (if not outright classified as apocryphal...). We have "doubting" Thomas and whatnots.

It all began with my pure unadulterated fear of death. I kept on thinking why I was so afraid of dying. So I kinda realized that I was (and still am) terrified of dying and finding out (although I don't know how I would find out) that there is no God. I fear death being the end of everything. I don't want to cease existing and the usual solution doesn't do anything for me. Unlike the egotistical bastards of yore who sought to immortalize themselves through their acts of conquest or even by their breakthroughs, I am not satisfied by merely knowing that I will be remembered. No, I want to go on living...EXISTING. I don't fear mediocrity and being rendered invisible. I fear losing all sensation.

I guess most people would hold on to their beliefs and gods tighter after thoughts like these. But I had a different reaction. I want to find out how to stay alive and not any of that BS about putting myself to cryogenic rest until people discover the secret of immortality (although that would be sweet). I never want to die. So I promptly started introspecting and discovered that I had no strong belief in the christian faith to begin with. So it goes without saying that if the christian god were the true god, there is simply no way in hell he'd reward me with salvation, eternal life and all that jazz. The catholic faith has so many holes in it that none of its arguements hold water.

I immediately thought of myself as being an atheist but I couldn't force myself to believe in the non-existence of a higher power. That just simply meant life is a one-shot thing and I could bring myself to swallow that pill. So being agnostic is working out for me quite nicely these days. I simply accept that there are things that we are not meant to know. I'm appeasing myself with such an asian philosophy. Accepting things as they are and not questioning, simply experiencing. I'm consantly having to mentally berate myself for wanting to dissect everything (the western approach) and digest every single morsel of knowedge I come accross.

Living like this is not only painful but it's turning out to be an empty existence as well. I am materialistic and am not afraid to admit so. My love for sensation and all things physical and material have made me a head case. A person who is afraid to accept anything vague. I want it underlined, highlighted and annotated. It's sickening...I KNOW.

xoxo

Jay Brannan - Goddamned

I want to start of this tirade on a positive note. I just finished watching the film Shortbus (please refer to my "review" section for more info and NO. I'M NOT UPLOADING THE FILM HERE.) Jay Brannan just interested me so much. I hated his character Ceth (pronounced "Seth") until he sang...DAMN IT! His voice was haunting. Up until now, he's in my head.

I'm currently questioning my faith (what elese is new?) and I'm glad I took the time to listen to this particular song.

For those interested, please visit Jay Brannan's website. And yeah, he's openly gay...THANK GOD! For all the haters out there, please drop dead...really...JUST...DROP...DEAD!!!

Christian zealots on the move again...

I recently received an email calling for a boycott of the Golden Compass movie and the "His Dark Materials" series of books it's based on. I'll post the entire email here without any email addresses of course...together with my reply. I'll leave everything untouched. I even reread my respnse and found some typos and missing words but I'll leave it as it is.

Have you read the books? I don't agree with this completely.

Although the series of books depict a certain "church" as the enemy, it doesn't refer to THE church. In my opinion the book expresses the oppression of certain religions. Just like when Ruta Skadi said that the church tries it's best to suppress our natural impulses and when it can't cuts it off. That isn't entirely wrong. For all the church's glory, it isn't infallible. If we're comparing this to the christian church, the SAME church that killed thousands of Muslims during the Crusades. The SAME church that believed slavery was acceptable. The SAME sexist church who never places women in position of honor and power. The SAME church where early popes were lechers and would be emperors who decided wars and the fate of nations. The same church that DID NOT defend against racism until the revolution. For all it's glory, the church isn't infallible and this is what the book sets out to expose.

The killing of a god who has come astray does not culture atheism, it only teaches the people who read the books to start learning for themselves. Some of us grow up blind to real theology. Being born Christian is not exactly a good starting point. When you grow up christian, you grow up with so much religious bias that your faith starts to blind you from the questions that should be asked.

Regarding the books being a slight at CS Lewis, have you guys tried to discern the hidden plots in all seven books of the CHronicles of Narnia? CS Lewis is a racist and a chauvinist pig to boot! He just writes so well and expresses the teachings of a single, all-powerful and benevolent god that we all think he's christian and he's good. Stupid much?

I'm not saying kids should throw away their fate but if god intended us to truly have freedom and free will then aren't we supposed to make the choice ourselves? If religion...or christianity to be exact, is the only way to salvation then I pity all the children who die of hunger in Africa all day. The same kids who die unbaptised and without ever hearing the so-called good news of god. What happens to them then? Do they get straight down to hell? Do they get thrown in limbo? Just because they were unfortunate enough to be born in a continent that did not INTEREST the Spanish missionaries as it did the Philippines?

What "His Dark Materials" is aiming at is the pride and pretentiousness of todays religions. Saying they are the only way to salvation. If this is the case, then we only have to look at the statisitcs and we could all eliminate a lot of people who wouldn't be going to heaven. This is the exact reason I personally frown upon christians who cringe everytime they hear the word "Jihad". Are they so stupid that they didn't know the sins of their forefathers when Knights sought out to kill every single Muslim during the Crusades? I believe that religion is important but the church is for the weak. We should all read the bible or Koran or whatever, and learn stuff our own way. We should stay away from being force-fed censored truths about what is good and not. The church for all it's glory is made up of humans as well. Humans who are bound to make mistakes. It's just that when the Pop makes a mistake, we can all say that "godd intended it so..."...MY FOOT! I believe in a god it's just not the god the the church portrays. I couldn't bring myself to worship a god who drowned out an entire population during the great flood just because they were sinners and then goes and sends HIS son to preach about love and forgiveness. Please...that is just too much hypocrisy for me to stomach.

So go out and read the books then maybe, just maybe, we all start to ask the difficult questions that should be asked. I don't pretend to know the reasons behind this email but it certainly comes from a standpoint lacking in evidence. The world has bigger problems than a movie and a series of books that may actually promote progressive thinking.
Thanks!

Subject: [wamu4d] The Golden Compass

Subject: Fwd: book & movie boycott

For anyone with kids, grandkids other relatives or friends who this may concern, I have checked it out at snopes.com and it is true. http://www.snopes. com/politics/ religion/ compass.asp

There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The Golden Compass" starring Nicole Kidman. The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.

Clearly, Pullman 's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." He has even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed."

While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake." In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH. Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman 's hatred of Jesus Christ.

"The Golden Compass" is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season, and will probably be heavily advertised. Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas.

Please consider a boycott of the movie and the books. Also, pass this information along to everyone you know. This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie.

four eyes...again...

It might have not been the smartest thing to do but refusing to wear my prescription glasses has finally caught up to me. Where there used to be lenses for farsighted vision, now there are lenses for BOTH farsightedness and nearsightedness. Damn it! DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!

I can't even describe how loopy it feels to adjust to bifocals. I'm scared of going down flights of stairs...my depth perception is shot to hell. Whatever... The only good thing tha tcame out of this whole ordeal was I got to buy new glasses. I got progressive lenses because I'd die if I got one of those bifocals where you could clearly see where each type of lens ends and where the other one begins...giant EEEEEW!

Now, I just refuse to look down. I still have quite a ways to go before I'm 100% with the lens grade below my field of vision. I seldom use it...only when I read books. It's also nice to know there IS a thing called Computer Screen Syndrome...obviously, I'm a statistic now. I have it, yes and it sucks...BIG TIME!

Where you would usually have a single grade for your prescription lenses. I have effing three grades!!! One for far stuff, one for reading and one for when I'm in front of the PC (which, incidentally is the thing I spend most time on next to sleeping). I almost decided to get the transition ones, which change color with the amount of sunlight or harsh light present, but nah...I didn't the black shade of the thing. Besides, I'm a big fan of sunnies.

Top 11 Reasons Why Gay Mariage Is UnAmerican...

I got this off the net (somewhere) yesterday and I just remembered I had it tonight.

I'm sure that it seems like it doesn't need to be said, but for the benefit of our readers from overseas who don't read/speak English as a first language or are using a translator like Babelfish, this post is 100% sarcastic.

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

11. Gay marriage is icky and uncomfortable for “decent” people. Therefore it should be outlawed just like porn, scary movies, most TV news coverage, almost every CSI episode and many books.

yesiree...blogging away...

It seems like I've been bitten by the blog-bug yet again. I find myself sitting in front of my notebook for longer hours on end these days. I do nothing but surf and play my tunes loud...loud enough to drown out everything I don't want to hear.

I've stopped packing for the meanwhile just because I don't want to have to close my big luggage just yet...I don't think I'm ready for that sense of finality.

In the meanwhile, I've been reading up on Singapore. How rich the country is, how happy the people are, how good the schools are, how high their literacy rate is, how much they spend on their military, how they heavily fine and/or imprison bloggers (on account of "sedition"), how they publicly cane people for sodomy (well, only gay people now since heteros can now legally sodomize the hell out of each other)...wait, I forgot what point I was trying to make.

Oh, I remember...I'M FUCKING SCARED.

Yeah, that's right. At first I was just worried being fined hundreds of bucks for smoking, SO I QUIT; and being fined for litering, WHICH I NEVER DO...but apparently, having an opinion is not THAT welcome in that country either. Hmmm...so what now? I have to open a new account and post boring stuff that would threaten to end my sanity and just post the good stuff everytime I come home...at whopping six month intervals!!! - if I'm lucky...

I think I'll miss democracy more than I'll miss my family. Sure, they tell me it's going to be fine. "Just look at your brother, he's been there for years and nothing bad has ever happened to him." HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT BLOGGING IS!!! Damn it! Blogging is starting to paint me as the black sheep in this family. How fucking crazy is that?!

I just fear ending up saying "MY BROTHER IS NOT A PIG" complete with the Nora Aunor accent before being handed over for the death sentence...it's funny right now but I bet it will be anything BUT when you're there.

the pink elephant...

I feel trapped. There are things I'd like to tell my family. Things that I had no problem telling my friends. Secrets that I wholeheartedly divulged to my workmates.

They say the truth will set you free but for me, the truth is a festering wound that threatens to kill me by slowly rotting away until my whole body is rendered useless. I always thought that staying away from my blog ought to give me more control over my emotions. That by refusing to vent, I, in turn am effectively making the issue non-existent...hence the title of this post.

For those of you with half a brain, you probably know by now what I want to tell my parents. It's "up" there somewhere...trust me. I can't imagine telling my parents but I dread leaving them behind without them knowing. This is it, my plan. To get out of this house and to never return. To go to a place where my inner self could "bloom"...yet another clue for the dimwits who haven't figured it out up until now.

(If you're readaing this and still don't have a clue what I'm talking about...don't read on. And grow a brain...I heard it's a very important organ to have.)

Impending change has an uncanny way of making you want to tie off loose ends. I just want peace. I want effing closure. Is that too much to ask for?

"IV" now up!

Come hither Led Zeppelin fans and rejoice! Here's IV, which is, in my opinion, the best Led Zeppelin album EVER!!!

"Kerplunk" now up!

I totally spazzed out and didn't notice that the upload was complete. My baaaaaad...but what the heck. It's there now! Here's the cover to go with it for you people (like me) who are obsessed with making sure iTunes is complete...album cover and all.

I might be uploading other stuff today but it all depends. I'm kinda swamped at the moment but it seems like things are bound to get finished soon. I'm thinking about uploading albums by Toad the Wet Sprocket...what do you guys think?

uploading "Kerplunk"...

While I was checking in to see my page I saw a request via one of my album uploads for older albums of Green Day.

"ASK AND YE SHALL RECEIVE!"...I say.

The only widely available album I know of that's older than Dookie is Kerplunk. I, of course, haven gotten my dirty hands on a copy of 39/Smooth as of yet but time will tell...

The new album should be up in a few. Album art will be posted together with the "finished upload" announcement. Stay cool people!

Whew...who knew?

Wowzah!!! Who would've thought I could go blog free for THAT long?!?!?! Well it's good to practice. I've been reading up on SIngaporean laws and such and I'm sad to say that I probably wont be able to blog when I move there. They're kinda strict when it comes to censorship over there. I've even heard of bloggers being thrown in jail, given heavy fines, or worse...CAINED!!! I can't imagine being hit by someone in front of a lot of people...

I just missed blogging so damned much that I had to right now...I'm looking forward to posting lots of new albums I got over at iTunes and whatnot. It may not be exactly a resurrection of sorts because I can't promise to report everything interesting I see when I troll the net but I might put in some effort here and there.

Also, I'm already on facebook so meet you guys there!

yep...Britney still has a fan alright...

What a fucking retard?! Did you guys see Britney's VMA performace? What a complete mess! She was a total wreck! A train wreck...judging by her tenacity to even wear that outfit.

uploading "Dookie"...

Tracks 1-10 are up, only four more to go. It's my all time favorite Green Day album. Joey Tecson was the guy who gave me my first CD with the Basketcase track and I loved it ever since. This album really reminds me of my high school days.

hear ye...HEAR YE!!!

Most of my friends don't have multiply accounts (LOSERS...) and they want me to upload music via my Blogger account which as we all know is a ginormous pain in the butt. So I decided to reopen all music files to everyone.

WHOOPEDOODEEDOO...

me? a trainer? NO FRIGGIN WAY!!! REALLY?!?!

Just got home from the mall. My parents dropped me off for my job interview earlier and just had me ride a cab to the mall. I got to the Buendia location fairly early. I was asked to accomplish the usual application form and to use one of the company's computers (at the kiosk) to repeat the application process albeit in the form of an online resume creator.

Then more people began coming in, I was actually worried all of them were applying for the same position I was. Then, I noticed that the woman manning the front desk was specially attentive to MY needs. She got up to make sure I was ok with filling out the form and whatnot. Then I discovered that a "different" person was supposed to interview me and I had to wait 'til this person came. Hmmm...fishy-fishy-fishy...upon being ushered into one of those aquarium-like rooms where they conduct the interviews, I got the shock of my life...THEY WERE CONSIDERING ME FOR THE TRAINER POSITION!!! WTF?! Not that I'm complaning, I just didn't expect my application for that position to fly.

Oh well...back there on Monday for a mock presentation. Now...what topic to cover for a 10-15 minute presentation?

brand spanking new uploads...

Well, High Voltage and Mute Math (well, at least half of it...) are finally up. I kinda slipped and left the AC/DC album open to everyone. I'll be correcting that soon though. In about an hour everything should be completely finished.

Technical info about the tracks:
  • AC/DC's High Voltage is high quality @320kbps.
  • MuteMath's Mute Math is reasonable @256kbps (hey! it's 20 friggin tracks ok?!)
  • ALbum artwork for both are included in posts announcing their respective upload times.
  • Lastly, if you like the songs, go buy the album!!!

uploading "Mute Math (Special Edition)"...

Here's the special edition album of the very cool MuteMath! They remind me of an edgier yet more melodic Sting. The special edition album has two CDs. The second CD features a set they did, it's called the "Live at El Ray" limited edition CD. Hope you guys like it!

uploading "High Voltage"...

I'm uploading my favorite AC/DC album ever! For those who watched "School of Rock" (who didn't?) you might remember hearing one of the tracks during the end credits. When Jack Black has opened his music tutoring studio and he's practicing with the band. Cool times...

my Japanese name...(it's obvious I haven't had my coffee yet)

PSPhone...a definite maybe!!!

Wow! If this stuff is true...I might need to shackle myself up to stop myself from splurging on the PSP Slim when it comes out! After all, I DID miss the opportunity to pre-order the Final Fantasy Crisis Core pack...only 77,777 units out there. DAMN IT!

Go HERE to read up on this sizzling morsel of news.

planning my return to the blogosphere...

I'm currently preparing myself to re-immerse my brain in the fun yet cutthroat world of blogging. It's been quite a while and I'm afraid I'm running out of reasonable and valid excuses not to post stuff.

My trip to Singapore has been moved to the 5th of January 2008 because my family (apparentyl, without my knowledge...) has reached a compromise and they are allowing me to spend my Christmas to New Year's holidays here in the Philippines. I would've agreed to everyhting had they taken the time to get my approval, since I am aware that it'd be about one to two years before I could go home again. My brother might be home for the holidays and he's not willing to leave me alone there but for sure, he'll be coming home on May. That will be the time I'd be left to my own devices in his house.

I've been racking up quite a few albums via iTunes. I'm going to share a lot of albums once I've finished using 80-100% of my bandwidth. I've got cool stuff from the 70's and 80's. I've gotten old stuff from AC/DC, best-of albums by Aerosmith and Queen, Green Day albums, and other goodies. I promise to upload a boatload of high quality mp3's (@320kbps) as soon as possible.

I'm also planning on working about 3 months just to scrub up cash for the holidays and some pocket money for my trip. I've got a few companies lined up and have been invited to interviews by some.

going with the flow...

...sometimes, saying as much means you're doing a good thing, but then again, many would argue that simply going "with the flow" makes for a very boring and "un-educational" experience. In my case, it just means sitting around, bumming the whole day.

Am I satisfied? No

Do I still want? Yeah, a lot actually...

Am I in desperate need of basic necessities? Not exactly...

So, right now, all I fear is "settling". I hate stagnation. Stagnation means I'm wasting time, and that's one thing I don't have a lot of. I fear becoming like my sister. I don't want to settle for what could be easily attained. I want to blaze my way to glory. No, I don't mean Alexander-ish or even 300-ish...I just want more but right now, I'm unwilling to do anything about it. I don't want to end up breaking a sweat for what I want to have...not a great philosophy if you ask me. It's not doing me any good.

yes...I am very much alive

It's been a while but I can honestly say I don't miss blogging that much. My life has been running at the pace of a whirlwind these past few weeks and I'm not surprised I haven't been able to do anyhting online for the longest time.

Thing is, my EPEC application was approved by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) of Singapore which pretty much hits the last nail on the coffin. Yes, I am leaving...when, I'm not so sure. I'm still waiting for the actual certificate to be sent to me via snail mail but I'm in no rush. I've also been busy exchanging emails with my brother since I will be living off of him for a while when I finally pack up and transfer my whole life there. I got the feeling that he's trying to keep me here as long as he can and only wants me to buy a plane ticket when I actually have secured favorable prospects in terms of work. Hmmm...fishy...and here I thought he was going to be head over heels, practically pulling me by the arm to leave already but alas, this is not the case.

I've been busy prettying up my resume just like a friend of mine, Deej, suggested. I'm trying to pack all the punch I can into my resume. After all, your resume is truly the first impression you make to would be employers.

In th social scene, I'm having a little get together tomorrow with some friends. It's sort of a little semi-"despedida" just to make sure I'm able to catch up with some friends before leaving this god forsaken country. It also coincides with my sister's birthday party. She's not adding another year 'til the 13th of course but what the heck...I'm the one who's going to be cooking anyway.

I've also been tutoring recently. I'm helping a high school senior out with his Physics class. To be honest, he's dumb as a rock but who cares...I still get paid anyways.

Recently, I've been noticing another change in my musical tastes. I've been hawking ancient rock albums these past few weeks. I've got Queen, old stuff from Aerosmith, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Who and other similar bands. It's quite interesting seeing my parents "recognize" the tunes blasting from my speakers. I've also been playing old Guns N' Roses tracks non stop, which is quite enjoyable...

We also made a recent family purchase. We bought this big ass Samsung HD LCD TV with all the trinkets that would make it awesome. My sister also got herself a slim fit Samsung TV. So it goes without saying, we love Samsung in our house. I'm actually planning on buying new phone...also from Samsung. Well, I've been lounging around in the sofa area making the most of the new TV...let me tell you, Final Fantasy never looked sooooo damn good! We've recently gone on a shopping spree for DVDs...I've finally gotten my parents off of the pirated wagon and we're now busy hoarding good DVDs from any respectable shop we come across.

I hope to be able to post mor eoften now...

protect your iPod/iPhone now!!!

Here's the perfect way to protect your iPod/iPhone - by DISGUISING IT AS A MICROSOFT ZUNE!!! Yeah! That's the way! No one wants a friggin Zune, so you can be sure your iPod is safe!

Check it out HERE.

Don't let the ANIMO SPIRIT DIE!!!!

From concerned La Sallians to my fellow La Sallians:

FYI lang para sa mga hindi nakaka-alam, ipinagbabawal na ang pagcheer at paggamit ng drums during timeouts. PROBLEM IS, the stup*d UAAP board is always
singleing out DLSU when it comes to violations of this 'rule'.

We pay for our tickets, they have to right to silence us, they have no right to kill the school spirit.

Cheer your hearts out this thursday and during all the remaining games of the archers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Archerpride.com Forums:
"There is a strong possibility that the Gang Green will be silenced this Thursday. Looks like the sea of CHEERING GREEN that we had hoped for the La Salle gallery will become nothing less than a sea of green silents. It seems DLSU was 'reprimanded' in the UAAP meeting last Friday for cheering during time outs. It seems some authorities have zeroed in on Gang Green for this ‘problem’. Last night, the Gang was told, in no uncertain terms, that if they continued to cheer during time-outs, even though we were across the benches and our cheering was only heard on our side, the Gang would not be allocated any tickets for the DLSU-ADMU game this Thursday!

Well, the Gang tried to comply fearing the loss of tickets for our game with the blues. The Gang went back to doing their ‘silent’ cheering during timeouts to comply but other green blooded La Sallians joined the Gang in cheering but in not so ‘silent’ a manner. They were obviously, not aware of our patented ‘silent cheering’. Yet, the Gang was blamed for them. That’s fine. Blame the Gang if you must. But when UE made their pull away late in the third and in the entire fourth quarters, most, if not all, of the DLSU gallery LOST THEIR VOICES!!! But the Gang could not and WOULD NOT turn their backs on the team. So, even under the threat of NO tickets for Thursday's big game, the Gang continued to cheer the team on practically NON-STOP! Sure we lost but our cheering was so heartening to the team that team manager Hero Yu thanked the Gang Green for their non-stop cheering and encouraged them to continue to do so beause "it lifted the spirits of the players so much specially when we are down”. But by continuing to give this important morale support to the players, the Gang may be permanently SILENCED starting with the La Salle-Ateneo game this Thursday. Well, if the Gang does not get tickets hereon end, I personally feel IT WAS WORTH IT just to cheer on our players when they were down. Even down very badly. The Gang SUPPORTS the team with our cheers regardless of whether we are winning or losing. This is us, true La Sallians. Heck, without the Gang, the Pep Squad will have no one to lead the cheering to. To those who cheer only when the team is up, please, the team needs you more WHEN THEY ARE DOWN!!! Don't be afraid to cheer! We realize that not all can cheer as ardently as the Gang but with our own pendindg 'suspension' or 'expulsion' you all will have to carry on the cheering burden.

Remember, the Gang was there with the team when they were suspended. We even pitched in to give our team uniforms for many of those tournaments. The Gang was there to watch ALL their games (though in smaller and rotating numbers) in the FMC, Fil-Oil, NSL and other tournaments whether it was in the FEU gym, San Beda, Arellano and wherever. The Gang watched those tournaments even before the crowd came out during the playoff and championship games. THE GANG WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR THE TEAM! FOR LA SALLE!!! WE ARE THERE WHEN MANY COULDN'T!!! WE ARE THERE WHEN MANY WOULDN'T!!! And now, we may be silenced forever. All for La Salle!

We understand the position of our Board Reps being new to the UAAP Board. But why is no one fighting for the cheering supporters of our and the other teams? Why kowtow to Mama Goldie and the other Board members, who want the UAAP games to be as silent as a Mozart concert at the CCP and whose idea of cheering is cart wheeeling and dancing at half time! Oh, don’t forget the mandatory PE class attendees of those schools who are ‘forced’ to attend their games and where they are mandatorily told to memorize their cheers and cheer only on cue! No one should pass the blame to ABS-CBN! Don’t pass the blame to the coaches! If I remember right, it was only the acerbic Aric Del Rosario of UST(why am I not surprised?) who once complained about the loud cheering during time outs. I don’t think Franz, Dindo, Norman, Bogs, Manny, Glenn or even Pido would be complaining. Being former players, they know how important crowd support is to their players and would not fault the crowds for it. Does the UAAP Board do? Oh well, that’s the UAAP Board.

So, to all La Sallians, if you hear a defeaning silence during timeouts at La Salle games, that's the type of game the UAAP BOARD wants! Strange, when ADMU fans continued to cheer during time outs and even boooed Mama Goldie when an announcement not to cheer was made by her in one of their games, ADMU was not 'reprimanded.' So, it looks like this Thursday there will be no one to answer their six man battalion. Again, that's the UAAP Board for you."

Ten Things I Hate About Star Trek

10. Noisy doors.
You can't walk three feet in a starship without some door whooshing or screeching at you. My office building has automatic sliding doors. They're dead silent. If those doors went "wheet!" every time a person walked through them, about once a month some guy in accounting would snap and go on a shooting rampage. Sorry Scotty, the IEEE has revoked your membership until you learn to master WD-40

9. The Federation.
This organization creeps me out. A planet-wide government that runs everything, and that has abolished money. A veritable planetary DMV. Oh sure, it looks like a cool place when you're rocketing around in a Federation Starship, but I wonder how the guy driving a Federation dump truck feels about it?

And everyone has to wear those spandex uniforms. Here's an important fact: Most people, you don't want to see them in spandex. You'd pay good money to not have to see them. If money hadn't been abolished, that is. So you're screwed.

8. Reversing the Polarity.
For cripes sake Giordi, stop reversing the polarity of everything! It might work once in a while, but usually it just screws things up. I have it on good authority that the technicians at Starbase 12 HATE that. Every time the Enterprise comes in for its 10,000 hour checkup, they've gotta go through the whole damned ship fixing stuff. "What happened to the toilet in Stateroom 3?" "Well, the plumbing backed up, and Giordi thought he could fix it by reversing the polarity."

Between Scotty's poor lubrication habits and Geordi's damned polarity reversing trick, it's a wonder the Enterprise doesn't just spontaneously explode whenever they put the juice to it.

7. Seatbelts.
Yeah, I know this one is overdone, but you'd think that the first time an explosion caused the guy at the nav station to fly over the captain's head with a good 8 feet of clearance, someone would say, "You know, we might think of inventing some furutistic restraining device to prevent that from happening." So of course, they did make something like that for the second Enterprise (the first one blew up due to poor lubrication), but what was it? A hard plastic thing that's locked over your thighs. Oh, I'll bet THAT feels good in the corners. "Hey look! The leg-bars worked as advertised! There goes Kirk's torso!"

6. No fuses.
Every time there's a power surge on the Enterprise the various stations and consoles explode in a shower of sparks and throw their seatbelt-less operators over Picard's head. If we could get Giordi to stop reversing the polarity for a minute, we could get him to go shopping at the nearest Starship parts store and pick up a few fuses. And while he's shopping, he could stop at an intergalactic IKEA and pick up a few chairs for the bridge personnel. If you're going to put me in front of a fuseless exploding console all day, the least you could do is let me sit down.

5. Rule by committee.
Here's the difference between Star Trek and the best SF show on TV last year:

Star Trek:

Picard: "Arm photon torpedoes!"
Riker: "Captain! Are you sure that's wise?"
Troi: "Captain! I'm picking up conflicting feelings about this! And, it appears that you're a 'fraidy cat."
Wesley: "Captain, I'm just an annoying punk, but I thought I should say something."
Worf: "Captain, can I push the button? This is giving me a big Klingon warrior chubby."
Giordi: "Captain, I think we should reverse the polarity on them first."
Picard: "I'm so confused. I'm going to go to my stateroom and look
pensive."

Firefly:

Captain: "Let's shoot them."
Crewman: "Are you sure that's wise?"
Captain: "Do you know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I'll BEAT YOU WITH until you realize who's in command."
Crewman: "Aye Aye, sir!"

4. A Star Trek quiz:
Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and 'Ensign Gomez' beam down to a planet. Which one isn't coming back?

3. Technobabble.
The other night, I couldn't get my car to start. I solved the problem by reversing the polarity of the car battery, and routing the power through my satellite dish. The resulting subspace plasma caused a rift in the space-time continuum, which created a quantum tunnelling effect that charged the protons in the engine core, thus starting my car. Child's play, really. As a happy side-effect, I also now get the Spice Channel for free.

2. The Holodeck.
I mean, it's cool and all. But do you really believe that people would use it to re-create Sherlock Holmes mysteries and old-west saloons? Come on, we all know what the holodeck would be used for. And we also know what the worst job on the Enterprise would be: Having to squeegie the holodeck clean.

1. The Prime Directive.
How stupid is this? Remember when Marvin the Martian was going to blow up the Earth, because it obstructed his view of Venus? And how Bugs Bunny stopped him by stealing the Illudium Q36 Space Modulator? Well, in the Star Trek universe, Bugs would be doing time. Probably in a room filled with Roseanne lookalikes wearing spandex uniforms, walking through doors going WHEET! all day. It would be heck. At least until the Kaboom. The Earth-shattering Kaboom.

Thriller (Indian GIRLY MAN version)

My parents got scared and thought I was really losing my mind while I was watching this. I was laughing my fucking ass off so hard they thought I was disturbed or something...

Thriller (Filipino inmates version)

Well, you've got to hand it to us Filipinos...we manage to have fun even when we're in jail. This video reminds me of my elementary and high school days when students were required to participate in foundation day celebrations and learn massively choreographed dances. This was made better of course when I got into my senior year at high school where our cheer and dances were included in our military training modules. Two words to describe our cheers: "KILLER MOVES"...hahahahahahahaha!!!

PSP news update (finally, something negative...)

The new "redesigned" PSP seems to good to be true. Alas, there is a flaw after all. Although the system has better looks and also maximizes the processor speed, the downside to it all is the sacrifice in battery life. What used to be 10 hours of usage (optimal conditions) have been cut in half to 5 hours! Forget about your usual PSP hogging time during your non-stop flight from Japan to New York...now, you actually have to sleep part of the way and suffer through bad airplane movies!

Not to fret though, Sony has announced that the PSP slim is STILL compatible with the older generation battery module. The catch is, the old battery is indeed THICK compared to the new system. Sony plans on releasing a modified back plate (or cover...WHO KNOWS???) to augment the possible usage of the old battery and still allow your PSP to look...hmmm...sexy?

Now the question that remains is: "DOES THIS BATTERY MAKE MY PSP LOOK FAT?"

PSP news update (united colors of PSP!!!)

So boys and girls, what will it be??? Look at the line up of the available colors for the new PSP slim. We have (from left to right)
Piano Black (PSP-2000 PB), Ceramic White (PSP-2000 CW), Ice Silver (PSP-2000 IS), Rose Pink (PSP-2000 RP), Lavender Purple (PSP-2000 LP), and Felicia ("Ferri shear") Blue (PSP-2000 FB).

PSP news update (featuring: TV Tuner)

To spice up the PSP scene some more, even after the introduction of the PSPcam and GPS module, Sony will now introduce the PSP TV Tuner!!! It will allow you to view digital TV broadcasts on your PSP and with the new video out capability...the possibilities are endless!

Here are the specs:

  • Model Number: PSP-S310
  • Desired retail price: JP 6,980 (US 57)
  • Hardware specifications
    • External size: Approximately 55 x 31.8 x 14.2mm
    • Mass: Approximately 17g
    • Accessory: Private case

    • Corresponding area: Japan

PSP news update (JAPAN STRIKES BACK!!!)

Okaaaaaay...so there's been a lot of news a'buzzing about the release of the new PSP slim (not the official name by the way, it's officially known as the "redesigned PSP") in the USA. Now, dare we ask, "Wait...what about Japan?" Good question! Japan is only like, um, like, the mothership of Sony technology!!! Helloooooo!!! Did we really think all the goodies were exclusive to the folks on the other side of the pacific? HELL NO!!!

So what is the "Japan exclusive" PSP slim release? It's a freaking SPECIAL EDITION FINAL FANTASY: CRISIS CORE PSP slim pack!!! Dayum! The pack includes a silver PlayStation Portable adorned with a Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII logo and an image of Zack and Cloud at the back. The PSP included in the Crisis Core bundle will be one of the slim model PSPs. The limited edition PSP unit will also come bundled with an exclusive Buster Sword strap and a copy of the game. To add insult to injury, the UMD game that comes with the pack is encased with special cover art exclusive to this package!!!
The Crisis Core bundle will be in Japanese retail stores on September 13 with a price tag of 25,890 yen (US 212). Only 77,777 of these babies will be produced and, judging by the franchise's popularity, it looks like they'll be selling quite fast.

Do you take it...???

For iTunes users, I've already included the album artwork in the ID3 tags and if it doesn't show up, please refer to prior post for album cover art.

Paper Walls is Yellowcard's latest album. Released just this July and it's getting rave reviews from long time fans and newbies alike! If you check them out on iTunes the album currently has a rating of five (out of five) stars and safter listening to the album, I must agree!

It should be up within the hour if nothing untowardly happens to my DSL connection...

PSP news update (yet again)

SCEA has announced that a new "slimmer" PSP was indeed on its way to the American market. They've also announced a whopping $100 price cut on the existing 60Gb PS3. What Sony didn't announce immediately however, was the price cut concerning the 60Gb PS3 was to clear out all remaining units and that the product, in fact, will be effectively phased out just leaving the 80Gb and 30Gb PS3's out there.

On the PSP front, Sony announced that the old PSP will also be phased-out but the weird thing is, there will be no price cuts for the PSP since prices have already dropped prior to the announcement of the new PSP. They, however, will offer the older PSP version in packages that offer great value. Similar to the Daxter bundle for the PSP slim, they will offer a Daxter bundle as well for the old PSP, bundling it with the Daxter game, a 1Gb Memory Stick Duo and a video UMD as well. All this for $199.99 while the core pack will continue to sell in it's previously adjusted $169.99 price range.

"Our Love to Admire" is now up!

Enjoy guys!

uploading "Our Love to Admire"...

In just a few the newest album by Interpol should be available here in my site. I like how they stuck to their thing y'know? I still like to mellow out to their tunes. This is what I listento nowadays when it's raining outside and I feel the air just chilling around me. Really cool...definitely cool.

world wide weirdness (WWW)

A new segment that will hopefully cut my daily posts to a handful. Instead of separate posts, I'll leave links to interesting things I found in the world wide web. This is done specifically to give me the option to reroute you instead of posting let's say a NSFW item...which could spell disaster for my page.

WTF?! What in tarnation are they trying to sell?

Novak Djokovic ever the performer...

Hotness! He can't sing to save his life but who cares?! He has balls! AND at least like any self-respecting sportsman, he actually takes off his shirt when he wins...unlike those PRUDES!!!

PSP news update (more pics!!!)

Apparently the folks at T3 are blessed enough to get a sample of the redesigned PSP before actual production. They have been nice enough to post lots of images online and even fill in some blanks left by Kaz Hirai's announcement yesterday.

New info:
  • The infrared port has been removed. (I actually haven't used that port...EVER)
  • The WiFi switch is now where the infrared port was before. (at the top near the USB slot)
  • You can now charge your PSP via USB connection (GOD! FINALLY...)
  • There is no longer a lock mechanism for the UMD slot. Instead of popping open when you hit the switch you now have to manually pull the cover away from the main unit. (Okay...a little scary but I'm sure it isn't as bad as it sounds...) The removal of the locking mechanism was one of the main reasons behind the slimmer design.
  • Game loading was improved by allowing game data to be temporarily saved from the UMD, much like how the PS2 and PS3 works. (Remember ejecting a PS2 cd and the game still goes on for a little while longer?)
  • The 64Mb memory is not usable, it's there for the "faster loading" gimmick...(sigh...)
  • Upon release these PSPs will have the latest firmwares installed and gossip is circulating about an improved motherboard that makes downgrading near impossible.

P.S. Looks like they finally put a latch on the battery cover. Thank goodness! I always had trouble with the slide-y mechanism of the first one!

Katherine McPhee - "Lover Story" video

All I can say is...KATHERINE MCPHEE IS FREAKIN' HOT!!!!

A lot of people may criticize her for the Beyonce-esque video, dancing, and sound but personally, I'd say "you go girl!" teach the world it doesn't take a screen hogging hug-assed diva to do it like that!

PSP news update (with pics!!!) and some PS3 news as well...

Here are a few pictures to tide over the couple of months wait for the new PSP "re-designed models".

This is the Core Pack which comes in signature "piano black" redesigned PSP, package will include slimmer battery unit and basic charger. ($169.99 SRP!!!)

This is the Daxter bundle which comes with a limited edition "ice silver" redesigned PSP and comes with the Daxter game UMD and the Family Guy" The Freakin' Sweet Collection video UMD AND a 1Gb Memory Stick Duo!!! (Septemebr 10 release!!! First official release date of the new PSP!!!)

This is the Star Wars Battlefront bundle which come with a limited edition (previously a Japan exclusive color) "ceramic white" redesigned PSP with a silk-screened image of Darth Vader on the back panel redesigned PSP and a Star Wars Battlefront UMD (October 9 release!)

Here's a look at all systems. I mean the closest I have right now...

Also, previously unreleased specs of the redesigned PSP:

  • actual weight is 1/2 lbs. !!!
  • only 3/4 inch thick!!!
  • new PSP will have 64Mb of system memory!
  • video out capabilites will allow players to output games to external displays up to 480 x 272 pixels resolution only BUT movies will be available at full standard-definition resolution on any progressive scan TV.
140 new game titles slated for this fiscal year!!!

Also, the original PSP models have been given $30 price cuts throughout the market!

Finally...some PS3 news as well. Beginning August, a new 80Gb Sony PS3 will be available with a suggested retail price of $599. Additionally, a new price was announced for the existing 60Gb PS3 model. Effective immediately, North American consumers can purchase the 60Gb model for only $499 which is a whopping $100 cheaper than the original price!!!!!!!!!

(***Note: all dates included in this post refer to North American releases as per SCE of America or SCEA announcements.)

On a personal note: I'm confused...I don't know which PSP to get. The ceramic white one like my current PSP or the ice silver one...hmmmm...

new improved PSP model confirmed!!!

We all know the magic that always happens at Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) and have come to expect the fireworks that are sure to erupt during the expo.

During Sony's E3 Press Conference, Kaz Hirai, newly appointed SCE president, announced the ongoing development of a new PSP which:

  • is 33% lighter
  • 19% thinner
  • has a more efficient battery
  • has faster loading time for games
  • also has the ability to output hi-quality videos (to TV?, monitor?) by pressing the display button (good for playing UMDs on the big screen: both games and video)

Colors and special promotional packages have been announced for North America and Japan already but still no news for the rest of the world. The only solid information released is that the new PSP will be avialable to North American consumers this coming October.

F1 scandals galore...

Okay...so Ferrari IS suing a senior at the Williams team for "stealing" sensitive technical information from the team...and said senior member has already been suspended.

Also, Christian Albers has been dropped from the Spyker team due to "financial reasons" and he is contemplating legal action against the team. Meanwhile, Christian Klien is on call for the test drives at Spa although when questioned, he says he isn't Albers' replacement...yet. The list for Albers' possible replacements is indeed long but some of the drivers HAVE shown interest and have been keen to publicly say so.

Harry Potter warning...

So I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix yesterday...it was such a disappointment. Well, it should be expected, after siting through Transformers all the while grabbing the sides of m seats 'til my knuckles turned white and oohing and ahhing while watching Die Hard 4.0, I kinda knew even while the previews were being screened that this wasn't going to cut it.

For those of you who haven't watched the coolest moview of summer, I really suggest watching Harry Potter first before viewing the other movies. It was such a rip-off...I'll see how much better it is on IMAX. Oh well, if 2D can't hack it, I don't know why the 3D version should be any different.

summer blockbuster extravaganza...

Okay...there's no point in telling you guys how cool Transformers is or how epic Pirates was...and not forgetting to mention how tragic Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Spider-Man 3 were.

I want to talk about the other movies. Okaaaay...Live Free or Die Hard 4.0 might not be exactly one of those "others" but it was just waaaaay to cool. Bruce Willis (my fave daddy figure out there) deals with technology this time and just how pretty can Maggie Q get? Hmmm...not sure on that one.

There's also Shooter featuring Mark Wahlberg and his *ehem* big guns (aka his big bulging biceps) and although I'll confess that it's quite "Bourne Identity-ish", I liked it because he was no uber freak like Bourne. He actually needed a side-kick!!!

I'll spill the beans on the new Harry Potter later on. I have tickets to go see it later and I've bought tickets for Thursday night to get the IMAX experience...we'll see if it's worth the extra dough I shelled out.

After all this action hoopla, I'm looking forward to the conedies and dramas. Hmmm...I can't wait for Chris Pine and Adam Brody to grace the silver screen in their upcoming movies.

the wonders of bureaucracy...

In my quest to spread my wings (and fly, butterfly...YUCK...EEEEWWW...I can't believe I typed that in!) to attempt to leave the nest (aka: my home) and find my own way, a horrendous secret of mine surfaced and is now haunting me BIG TIME! Unbeknownst to most people save my family and closest friends, I was born with an ugly secret...AN UGLY NAME!!!

"Jose Rey Hernandez Sta. Agueda"...I know...EEEEWW TO THE NTH DEGREE!!!

So my parents saw the error of their ways...and...corrected my birth certificate themselves!!! JUST USING CORRECTION FLUID!!! How stuuuuuuuuuupid is that?! So all my legal documents except my birth certificate are addressed to "Joseph Rey Hernandez Sta. Agueda".

So I had to use my right to have my name changed (allowable once in my country) to have everything ironed out. This includes having your new name printed in a newspaper, announcing the change. There's also a public hearing (which I didn't attend) and a looooooong trip to the National Statistics Office in East Avenue. I did everything and I discover that I can only get the new birth certificate on the 25th!!!

I could've just puckered up and used my real name but then I wouldn't be able to apply for a job in SIngapore since the names on my passport and diploma won't match. If I only planned on visiting the country for pleasure...sure, no problem...BUT I'm moving there to work remember???

*sigh* my feet hurt right now...but I'll live...and I'm really thankful for the MRT ride (only the second of my life!!!) for reasons people will never know (wink, wink) HAHAHAHAHAHA! I'll just tell a select few why the MRT rides made up for the harrowing experience...

returning to what I once considered "home"...

It feels nice to actually sit down and type something to update my blog. I honestly missed my seemingly unending fascination with cyberspace and whoring my personal life to anyone who might give a damn.

Truth is, I did a lot of growing up these past few days...my BIG decision acting as a catalyst for the change, the mix ignited by my passion to make it in life, complicated by having to say the right things to the right people, and tempered by recent "unfortunate" and "personal" events. I no longer feel compelled to air my dirty laundry with abandon...but I still plan on keeping my online journl of sorts. Instead of hating everyone and everything I plan to start understanding more stuff more often.

I'm planning on leaving after my sister's birthday on August 13th but it's beginning to look impossible. It's almost like...at the speed I'm going, I'll be out of the country even before July ends. No prolonged goodbyes here nor are there any "despedidas" planned for that matter. It's just going to be me, a HUGE change, and my (what will hopefully be a positive...) reaction to said change.

I fully intend to keep in touch from my little apartment in Singapore and to share my experiences to people "who give a damn"...

some things are better left unsaid...

Wow! Ten days of blogless existence...I never thought I could go that long. I found myself at a loss these past days. I had nothing to share. Sure there was a lot of content I could share with everyone but the need to reach out and communicate wasn't there.

All around the world Pride Marches were happening but I wasn't even slightly interested. I've gotten gigabytes worth of music but still, no compelling need to broadcast and share. Definitely a weird week...

Not that there's a huge gaping hole in my being right now...it's just that I've been pretty "preoccupied" with goings-on in my own life.My brother and his wife arrived last Friday as scheduled which pretty much meant I had another fresh bottle of perfume to add to the collection. Honestly, I was hoping he'd come home with a new laptop but it's ok. I kinda knew it wasnigh impossible...I mean after the huge expenses covering the house and everything. Oh! And the house! The new floor is finished and my sister and my brother now have new rooms. Bad news is, my room was left in shambles (read this: UNINHABITABLE) and it seems there's no pressing need to fix it...and people say I'm the "favorite"...idiots!

For those concerned, I think it's quite obvious that I've kept mum about the whole "me leaving and all" schtik. YES...the answer is YES...I am leaving after all. It might be a little later as was originally planned. I'm not leaving with my brother on the first...yeah, he's only staying a week. Due to some problems concerning my passport, I still have to wait a few more weeks.

My brother also told me to apply for an employment pass that's good for (get this) ONE YEAR!!! WTF?!?!?! I think he plans on having me cook for him and do his laundry for a whole year! The good news is, I'll be there in time for January when the companies usually hold massive hirings. Also, we already checked a few companies and we already have a list of jobs I might want to consider. The best part of this whole ordeal is, I discovered that my brother actually gives a damn. We saw multiple job listings that I'm qualified for, except the whole "2-5 years experience" part but he told me to pick out positions from a list of departments. I was dumbfounded at first but I later discovered that he knew the managers in those departments and he could actually get me the job without much preamble...NICE!!!

He's also quite adamant that I try to get into his functional group first. That way, he could keep an eye on me and no one would give me much grief lest they incur the wrath of my brother...who happens to be quite the higher-up. So it's nice to know some people give a shit about my future. All that remains is to get new luggage (I want really chic bags) and a few semi-formal to formal outfits and I'm gone.

I might not be able to post much in the following weeks but I'll try to update my friends as much as possible.
